Having spent
over 30 years involved in local government and twice appointed Chairman
of Banbridge District Council, Wilfred McFadden joined The Bridge
Partnership as a local government statutory representative.
Wilfred shares similar aspirations as some of his colleagues on
The Bridge Partnership and hopes that its joined up approach to
local service delivery will result in a better area for all people
living and working in the Banbridge District.
He has spent most of his life working as an Auctioneer and Estate
Agent and has succeeded in balancing his work commitments with his
Council duties. He first became a Councillor in 1964 and served
with Banbridge District Council until 1973. He then resigned from
Council work but missed the challenge of trying to resolve problems
faced by members of the community. In 1981 he took up the role again
and has seen the Banbridge District develop into a thriving, prosperous
area.
Married with three grown-up children, Wilfred has a great love
of pipe bands and spends most of his time involved in activities
in this area. One of his more recent appointments was President
of the County Down Section of the Royal Scottish Pipe Bands Association.
He also plays an active role in church work.
