Title :: Part-time Taster Training
Programme :: Human Resource Development
Commenced :: January 2004
Value :: £22,817.99
Measure :: 3.2 Locally-based Human Resource Training and
Development Strategies
Aim :: Develop the existing skills of employees in a variety
of sectors to enable them to become more proficient in their job
role.
Overview ::
People 1st, a local training provider, applied to run this
one year project which targeted part-time workers and their employers.
The project was completed in January 2005 and provided a range of
short courses free of charge to part-time workers and their employers.
People 1st had identified that small / medium enterprises were more
unlikely to provide training for their part-time employees. Their
project meant that a company signed up, a training needs analysis
was completed and free training was provided to help address the
needs identified. Short accredited courses were provided for employees
such as, food hygiene, first aid and IT skills. For employers short
courses in management techniques, appraisals and selection interviewing
were offered. The project achieved all of its outputs.
Objectives ::
- A programme aimed at developing the existing skills of employees
in a variety of sectors to enable them to become more proficient
in managing people, information and activities.
- To provide a series of specifically tailored workshops using
practical examples, tutor led delivery and online learning to
maximise the learning experience.
Outputs ::
- 132 participants attending themed workshops broken down into
24 employers and 108 staff.
- 528 workshop places available to allow participants to enroll
on more than 1 workshop (average of 4 workshops per person).
- 5 participants investigating self employment.
- Creation of a life long learning culture.
- 10 companies investigating Investor in People accreditation.
- 60% participants looking at further training/ education.
