Nigel Smith
has lived and worked in the Banbridge area for over 20 years and
has built up an extensive knowledge of the local people and environment.
This knowledge coupled with his work and experience in the area
of community relations makes Nigel the ideal candidate to represent
the wider community interests on The Bridge Partnership.
Nigel’s involvement in the initial consultation workshops
aimed at developing The Bridge Partnership’s Integrated Local
Strategy plan is an advantage, as he played a prominent role throughout.
Nigel is optimistic that The Bridge Partnership will deliver a more
integrated service to local residents and enhance the quality of
life for all in addition to encouraging civic pride in the area.
Married with three children Nigel spends much of his spare time
involved in community groups and organisations. He has been the
Chairman of the Banbridge Special Olympics Club for the past 3 years.
He was also appointed the Chairman of Banbridge Host Town Committee
for the 2003 Special Olympics. With a keen interest in cricket,
he has been the Secretary of the Millpark Cricket Club for the past
23 years and was Chairman of the Mid Ulster Cricket Group during
its 37th year reign. He is also a cricket umpire for the Northern
Cricket Union. Nigel also is a member of the Banbridge District
Twinning Association and the Masonic Order.
