Banbridge District Council

John Hanna has served as a Councillor for Banbridge District Council since 1993 and in 2005 was elected to sit on The Bridge Partnership as a local government statutory representative. Like most others who have community interests at heart, John hopes The Bridge Partnership will help create a better local area for all those who live and work in the Banbridge District.

John has represented the District on many outside bodies and organisations. He has twice served as Council Vice-Chairman and has a particular interest in the restoration of the Newry/Portadown canal and also in the preservation of our local history.

John serves on Banbridge District Arts Committee, Rathfriland Regeneration Company Limited, the Banbridge Performing Arts Committee, Newry/Portadown Canal Joint Development Committee, Banbridge District Tourist Development Association, Banbridge District Twinning Association, Southern Education and Library Board, National Association of Councillors and Banbridge District Enterprise Company.

Married, John works as a medical physicist in Belvoir Park Hospital in Belfast.
