Elected a
statutory representative of The Bridge Partnership to represent
the Southern Education and Library Board (SELB), Dan has over 33
years experience of working in the education sector. Dan hopes that
his involvement in and membership of The Bridge Partnership will
result in an enhanced strategic working partnership.
He joined the SELB Youth Service in 1979 and has been employed
in various posts. In his current role as Assistant Youth Adviser,
he represents the SELB on a number of local and regional partnerships.
Prior to this he taught in St. Paul’s Junior High School in
Lurgan for 10 years as Head of the Physical Recreation Department.
He also represents the Youth Council for Northern Ireland on the
European Youth Information and Counselling Agency, based in Paris.
Between 1996 and 2001 he held the post of Chairman of the Southern
Drugs Co-ordination Team, which included representatives from the
Banbridge District Council area.
He qualified as a teacher in 1969, but continued his academic
studies and completed a B.A. Degree in Social Science in 1989 from
the Open University. He later obtained a Diploma in Training Management
in 1994 from the Public Service Training Council.
Married with four grown up children, Dan enjoys gardening, farming
and a round of golf in his free time.
